TALLY CLERK LEADER - (IBLTS) BEIRA, MOZAMBIQUE

General

The Tally Clerk Learder acts as a leader and supervisor for the tally clerk team, overseeing efficient and accurate cargo handling and documentation in the yard and warehouse operations.

The role involves a proper coordination with Operations Controllers, ensuring optimal allocation of tally clers, and mainting a well-organized and motivated team, and ensuring accurate records of cargo received, handled, and dispatched.

The Tally Clerk Leader reports directly to the Operations Manager Admin, (or Operations Manager ICD in his/her absense).

 

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties below do not exclude other tasks from being performed if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this job.

 

Outline of Duties & Responsibilities:

 

· Collaborate with Yard and Warehouse Supervisors (Operation to determine the required number of tally clerks for each position.

· Ensure timely arrivals and manage daily position allocation based on operational needs.

· Motivate, lead by example, instruct, teach, and provide support to the tally clerk team.

· Ensure a balanced rotation of tally clerks to prevent excessive overtime and leave, optimizing staffing levels during operations.

· Ensure timely reallocations of the tally clerks form the idle to busy positions.

· Ensure that all tally clerks prepare positions in accordance with the IBLTS safety general and cargo/operations type based requirements.

· Oversee stripping/stuffing operations and ensure data is captured accurately onto a tally sheet or tablet.

· Perform empty and full container checks, ensuring that an Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR) is filled out accurately.

· Notify the Operation Controller / Assistant immediately of any discrepancies in documentation, seal or container damages before the truck leaves IBLT&S premises.

· Oversee bulk cargo operations and ensure an accurate bag count is conducted and recorded onto a tally sheet.

· Maintain accurate records of all cargo movements and inspections

· Ensure accurate recording and tallying of all incoming and outgoing cargo in the yard/warehouse operations, before and after loading

· Conduct pre-loading inspections of trucks to ensure compliance with safety and quality standars

· Ensure all cargo is correctly labelled, marked and accounted for in the system

· Prepare, verify, and maintain documentation related to cargo received, handled, and dispatched

· Monitor and report any discrepancies in cargo or documentaion to the Operation Controller/Assistant

· Communicate with truck drivers to ensure compliance with loading requirements and resolve any issues that may arise

· Mantain a safe and clean work environment, and report any safety hazards or concerns to Operation Controller / Managment

· Provide accurate and timely reports to the Operation Controller as required.

· Work closedy with the Operations team to ensure smooth and efficiente loading of cargo

· Attend other assigned tasks as per instruction from the Operations Controller / Assistant.

· Ensure swift updating / uploading of documetaion in the Operations Folder after each operation.

· Report any misconduct by 3rd party or client to management attention.

· Report to the Operation Controller during idle times and avoid staying in operational areas after work is completed to avoid accidents.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of cargo movement and storage

· Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

The Tally Clerk Leader is generally required to work standard company hours and when necessary extended hours and or shifts as per workload.
